John Conyers was a member of the United States House of Representatives, representing the Detroit area of Michigan.  He served in the House from 1965 until 2017, when he resigned in the wake of numerous sexual harassment complaints.

In 2015 a former employee reached a taxpayer-funded settlement after alleging that she was fired after refusing Conyers’ sexual advances.

In 2017, another Conyers staffer alleged that the congressman sexually harassed her, according to documents filed in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.  The alleged harassment was said to have occurred in 2015 and 2016.
