In 2016, a former personal security guard sued Elton John, accusing him of sexual battery and sexual harassment. The alleged victim accused John of unwanted touching, saying that he twice attempted to stick his hands down the alleged victim’s pants and touch his buttocks and genitals. He also alleged that John put his hands inside the alleged victim’s shirt and twisted his nipples.

John denied the allegations and accused the man suing him of “seeking to extract an undeserved payment.” The lawsuit was withdrawn in November 2016.
