Roman Polanski
Director, Producer, Actor
Roman Polanski is a film director, producer and actor. He’s best known for films such as Rosemary’s Baby, Repulsion, and Chinatown.
In 1977, Los Angeles authorities charged Polanski with drugging and raping a 13-year-old girl that he had been hired to photograph as part of a series on adolescent girls. Polanski agreed to plead guilty to the least serious of the charges and, as he understood it, be released with time served. When he felt that the judge was unlikely to honor this deal, Polanski fled to France.
In October and November of 2017, several other women came forward to accuse Polanski of sexual assault:
- Molesting a 10-year-old girl in California in 1975
- Raping a 15-year-old girl in Gstaad, Switzerland in 1972
- Twice attempting to rape a 29-year-old woman in New York City in 1970
